For the first time, an LED light based system and intelligence are brought together to form a new pathing and exit finding solution.

From the directional floor (Pathfinder) and wall mounted (Hall Finder) low level systems far ahead of anything seen in even the worlds most advanced aircraft and cruise liners, to the door illumination (Door Finder), which offers confirmation of safe egress or unsafe to pass, by virtue of a fully illuminated architrave on either side of the door, in effect, light columns, which when safe illuminate green, when unsafe illuminate red with additional X beams across upper and lower sections also in red, so using the internationally recognised colour codes in all safety situations, through to the exit confirmation system (Exit Finder) which illuminates the flooring with messages from our patented LED projection system, there is now a complete system to assist people to get out of any given emergency situation.

What Lightstep Intelligent Evacuation Technology offers, is a complete pathway from any point in a building, to safety. It starts where each individual is placed, and ends outside, it is continuous and is Situation Sensitive and Reactive. If it is guiding towards a door which has a developing danger situation beyond the door, it will change the direction of the Lightstep pathing to avoid that danger.

If an area of the system becomes damaged by the emergency, the rest of the system continues unaffected.

First responders can gain access to the situation information by an external portal or wifi connection even while on the way to the scene. They can make decisions to override the system. For example in Stairwells, they can decide to re-direct the flow of escapees to allow them to make a stairwell available to the rescue services.

We propose to launch an optional system of RF ID to provide vital information regarding the location of people in the emergency. Tied into Lightstep, the RF ID will enable the first responders to assess the overall situation and determine appropriate logistical response.
